Our client is in search of an Engineering Manager to manage and lead a global team of electrical and mechanical design engineers, focused on designing and delivering solutions to meet growing customer needs. This role plays a pivotal part in transitioning the product portfolio from Engineered to Order (ETO) to Modular Performance Systems (MPS), optimizing product development processes, and driving global standards in product design and engineering. Ideal candidates will have exceptional people leadership capabilities with a focus on delivering products, solutions, and services on time, on budget, at desired product costs and with the highest quality. Leading teams, in Agile environments, to create innovative products, quickly, that improve and build upon the customer experience to grow market share are key qualifications.




KEY DELIVERABLES


  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the engineering function, aligning with the long-term business objectives.
  • Identify and assess new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the product offerings and competitive position.
  • Spearhead the transition of the current ETO product portfolio to a modular system approach.
  • Oversee the design, development, and validation of new modular products, ensuring compliance with industry standards, sustainability benchmarks, and customer requirements.
  • Implement and manage design stage gate methodologies to ensure rigorous review and approval processes throughout the product development life cycle.
  • Drive the application of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Utilize modern Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools to streamline engineering processes and improve documentation and collaboration.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product development processes, reduce costs, and improve time-to-market.
  • Lead product validation and testing efforts to ensure that all products meet rigorous performance, safety, sustainability, and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement corrective actions and continuously improve product quality.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, procurement, quality, and sales, to ensure successful execution of engineering projects.
  • Develop and implement global engineering standards and best practices, ensuring consistency across different regions.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and industry bodies, to stay informed of market trends and technological advancements.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture setting standards across the group for engineering-led productization.
  • Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Develop engineering talent through coaching, training, and career development initiatives.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES


The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge, skills and attributes:


  • Mechanical, or Electrical Engineer, P. Eng license and/or Computer Science designation or related experience required.
  • A Master’s in Business Administration is an asset.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience working with complex engineered products, technology, product management, manufacturing, and distribution operations and a proven track record of innovation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing modular engineered capital equipment projects and transitioning products from ETO to modular systems.
  • Strong team-oriented leadership and exceptional influencing skills with a bias for action in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering impact through rapid transformation that yield high levels of growth and sustained performance, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience leading and working in Agile manufacturing environments.
  • Exceptional at change management, relationship building and collaboration with many business lines.
