LHH are delighted to be partnering with a growing cosmetic organisation to recruit for a German speaking Financial Accountant.


The Role:


This position is responsible for producing financial accounts, reporting the monthly financials to the US team and managing control activities (including Sox). The role will also lead and assist the business in implementing efficient and diligent financial practices. This role will work closely with, and deputise for, the Controller based in Germany.


Job Responsibilities


  • Producing monthly management accounts under German GAAP and US GAAP.
  • Preparing & uploading accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, expenses and other journals.
  • Reconciling all Balance Sheet accounts including, but not limited to, tangible and intangible fixed assets, prepayments and other short-term assets, accruals, VAT, intercompany balances with any associated FX gains/losses.
  • Reviewing Accounts Receivables and ensuring the bad debt provision is appropriate prior to uploading the related journal.
  • Reviewing all Accounts Payables and ensuring all necessary invoices have been accrued.
  • Reviewing all bank reconciliations (prepared by the Shared Service Centre (SSC).
  • Managing the German employee expense system and the associated accounting entries on a weekly basis on CONCUR.
  • Liaising with the US team to provide all necessary periodic and quarterly reporting schedules to meet the group's reporting deadlines.
  • Reporting internal control activities with Internal and External Auditors to ensure SOX and other compliance obligations are met.
  • Business partnering with other internal stakeholders such as the SSC, the marketing department, the tax team, logistics and the US head-office team.
  • Producing the VAT returns and ensuring they are submitted to the tax authorities on time.
  • Assist with managing any hire purchase agreements, loans and supplier contracts. Managing car leases.
  • Preparing all necessary requirements for the Annual Financial Statements and assisting with the internal audit.
  • Assist in supporting other stakeholders including budgets and forecasts and other KPI's.
  • Driving process improvements and ensuring the processes in Germany are harmonised with other EMEA entities.
  • Other ad hoc tasks.

Experience/Skills/Education


Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
  • 2+ years' experience as Accountant, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, ability to define new standardized processes.
  • Hands-on mentality and work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Accurate, structured, independent and self-reliant way of working.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high commitment, manage resources, and effectively meet critical deadlines; natural curiosity for problem solving.
  • Advanced knowledge in MS-Office.
  • Fluent in English and German languages.
