Role Summary
Our Client are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Reviewer for thier Internal Audit Department. This role provides independent assurance to General Managers and Audit Committees on the quality of Internal Audit work across a number of EMEA banking entities. The role reports results and opinions to the Audit Committee.
Business Area
The Internal Audit Department evaluates key control designs and operations, offering opinions on the Internal Control Environment and Management Control Approach. The department delivers around 80 internal audit reports annually across EMEA and handles ad-hoc assignments. The Code for the Internal Audit of Financial Services firms mandates an internal QA function, independent of daily audit activities, to assure compliance with the Audit Department Manual. The QA reviewer prepares quarterly reports for AD Management, identifies training needs based on the results, and supports the Professional Practice Group in head office during reviews.
Position Description
Supporting a team of 68 audit staff across EMEA, the QA reviewer is expected to conduct full QA review on selected sample of audit reports or on key themes across a sample or full population of audit reports each quarter. Additionally, QA is also performed on closed/extended Audit Findings/Management Self-identified Issues per quarter. The role has a time budget for QA assignments but no monetary budget. The QA reviewer assists the Audit COO and the Professional Practice Group in head office by providing requested information.
Responsibilities
- Deliver timely QA reviews in line with EMEA audit methodology, IIA expectations, and standards.
- Determine quarterly QA review themes.
- Conduct QA reviews per the Audit Manual.
- Agree on QA findings with relevant AIC/Audit Partner.
- Provide quarterly QA process summary reports.
- Identify and communicate training needs. Provide methodolgy specific training where required.
- Advise the team on inflight assignments when performing live QA.
- Assist the Professional Practice Group in head office during reviews.
- Recommend QA process enhancements for continuous improvement.
The QA reviewer must possess the following:
- A detailed knowledge of Internal Audit Policies and Procedures, as per industry standards.
- Knowledge of the Global Standards and Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- The ability to provide colleagues with constructive feedback and answer their queries.
- Attention to detail. The confirmation of factual accuracy when performing the QA review and preparing Management Information is essential.
- Educated to degree standard and the holder of a professional qualification. ACA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent desirable.
Previous internal audit/ credit review experience is required to demonstrate a track record in effective QA audit delivery.
