This forward-thinking practice prioritises client care and professional excellence and is seeking to expand its team with a dedicated Court of Protection Solicitor.
The firm are looking for a talented and motivated Court of Protection Solicitor to manage a diverse caseload of sensitive and complex matters. This role presents an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable clients while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on matters relating to the Court of Protection, including deputyship applications and welfare issues.
- Manage a varied caseload of Court of Protection cases, ensuring clients receive efficient and empathetic support throughout the process.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, such as applications, court bundles, and correspondence, with precision and attention to detail.
- Advocate for clients in hearings and represent their best interests in Court of Protection proceedings.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in mental capacity law and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring they feel supported and informed at every stage.
- Contribute to the growth of the Court of Protection department, including mentoring junior staff and engaging in business development efforts.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) specifically in Court of Protection or related fields.
- Strong understanding of mental capacity law and familiarity with the Court of Protection process.
- Excellent advocacy skills and the confidence to represent clients effectively in court.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating sensitivity when dealing with vulnerable clients.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines effectively.
