Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover - 9 months) Salary: Circa £45,000 per annum Working pattern: Full-time (37.5 hours), hybrid - 3 days per week in the office Location: East London


We are seeking an experienced HR / People Manager to join a values-led organisation on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a senior, hands-on role where you will lead the delivery of both the strategic and operational people agenda, partnering closely with senior leaders to drive organisational performance through people.


Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will manage a small HR team and act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, supporting change, growth, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the delivery of the organisation's People Plan, ensuring alignment with the wider business strategy
  • Act as a strategic HR partner to senior leaders and managers, providing expert advice across all HR and employee relations matters
  • Manage and develop a small HR team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused HR services
  • Support organisational change and transformation initiatives, including complex TUPE transfers
  • Lead on workforce planning, HR analytics, and people-related modelling for new business initiatives
  • Develop, review and implement HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and employment law
  • Coach and support managers to build leadership capability and promote a positive, inclusive culture
  • Oversee complex employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, restructures and employment tribunal matters
  • Produce clear, data-led reports on people metrics such as sickness, turnover, and retention
  • Champion safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and data protection across all HR activity

About you


You will be an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. You'll bring:


  • Significant experience in a generalist HR management role
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
  • Proven experience supporting organisational change and transformation
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels
  • Experience of TUPE processes and workforce analytics
  • A collaborative, pragmatic approach with strong coaching skills
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards) or equivalent professional experience
