Job Title: Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

About Us

We are looking for a senior AP specialist for a growing construction company with operations across multiple regions. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality projects while maintaining strong financial and operational integrity. We’re looking for a seasoned Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team and help streamline and manage our vendor payment processes across locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounts payable operations for multiple locations.

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests.

  • Ensure timely and accurate payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with W-9 and 1099 requirements.

  • Collaborate with procurement and project teams to validate invoice accuracy.

  • Assist with month-end close activities including accruals and reporting.

  • Support audits and ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.

  • Work with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) to manage entries and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of multi-location AP workflows and compliance.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience with vendor onboarding and tax documentation (W-9, 1099).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Experience with project-based accounting.

  • Familiarity with construction contracts and lien waivers.

  • Knowledge of state-specific sales/use tax regulations.
