Position Title: Senior Accountant (Avalara Experience Required)

Location: Hauppauge, NY (On-Site)

We are seeking a hands-on Accountant with Avalara experience to join a growing manufacturing company in Hauppauge, NY. This role will support a variety of general accounting functions while also managing and maintaining sales tax compliance through Avalara. The ideal candidate will have strong core accounting skills and hands-on experience using Avalara within an accounting or ERP environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting while ensuring accurate tax compliance and financial reporting.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage and support sales tax processes using Avalara, including tax calculations, reporting, and filings

• Maintain Avalara system setup, tax codes, and integrations with the company’s accounting or ERP system

• Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment applications, and reconciliations

• Assist with the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations

• Monitor financial transactions to ensure accurate tax treatment and compliance

• Work closely with internal teams to ensure proper setup of customers, products, and tax categories in Avalara

• Investigate discrepancies and resolve vendor or customer issues as needed

• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or a related industry

• Hands-on experience using Avalara software is required

• Experience supporting AR, AP, and general accounting functions

• Strong understanding of GAAP and account reconciliations

• Experience with ERP or accounting systems

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
