We are seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst to support accurate and timely payroll processing across a multi-state organization. This role plays a critical part in preparing, analyzing, and validating payroll data for union and non-union employees, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and data integrity.
The ideal candidate brings strong payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and a detail-oriented, analytical mindset. This position partners closely with Accounting, Finance, HR, Benefits, and IT teams. Payroll Analyst
Location: Bryn Mawr, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $30/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Process and analyze weekly and bi-weekly payroll for assigned divisions, including union, hourly, and salaried employees
- Enter, audit, and validate payroll data such as timesheets, work orders, adjustments, and corrections
- Utilize advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data auditing) to reconcile and analyze payroll data
- Prepare final payroll for terminated employees in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Verify pay rates, deductions, classifications, and compliance with company policies, union contracts, and SOX controls
- Audit timesheet data and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries with professionalism and accuracy
- Maintain payroll documentation and update procedures as needed
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and prepare supporting documentation for Finance and Accounting
- Assist with payroll tax activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings managed through the payroll vendor
- Process voluntary deductions such as 401(k), employee stock purchase plans, and charitable contributions
- Generate standard and ad hoc payroll reports for labor cost analysis
- Support system testing, enhancements, and process automation initiatives
- Assist with year-end activities, audits, W-2 reconciliation, and special projects
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, ideally in a multi-state environment
- Advanced Excel proficiency required
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation and payroll reporting
- Familiarity with payroll and timekeeping systems (Lawson preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
