Systems Engineer / Product Manager – Electronic Warfare Support Equipment
Location: NAWCWD Point Mugu, CA
Type: Full-Time, Onsite
Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000

A defense contractor supporting the Support Equipment Systems (SE SYS) Externally Directed Team (EDT) at NAWCWD Point Mugu is seeking a Systems Engineer / Product Manager with 3+ years of experience. This role supports the development and sustainment of Organizational-Level maintenance solutions for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Electronic Warfare (EW) weapon systems. The position offers long-term stability, strong benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.
Position Focus
You will provide systems engineering and product management support across multiple EW maintenance programs, contributing to requirements development, system design, integration, testing, and full product lifecycle execution.
Responsibilities
Systems Engineering and Technical Support
Support Development Leads with systems engineering tasks and project execution.
Contribute technical expertise to multiple SE SYS projects, resolving complex technical and programmatic issues.
Identify and develop system requirements, including design, development, and testing of O‑level EW maintenance hardware and software solutions.
Ensure maintenance solutions align with Fleet flight line requirements and established performance criteria.
Conduct systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, interface definition, integration planning, and documentation.
Project Management Support
Assist with business planning, configuration management, and execution of technical projects.
Support current-year and long-term budget planning, funds execution, and proposal development.
Assist with development and tracking of work packages.
Coordinate funding and planning efforts with U.S. and international partners.
Track project costs, schedule, and performance; support planning and execution of project activities.
Agile Development Support
Participate in Agile processes such as sprint planning, backlog management, and stand-up meetings.
Support cross-functional teams in iterative development cycles.
Resource and Program Coordination
Support resource allocation tasks and help ensure adequate staffing and tools.
Contribute to Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates.
Update and maintain Project Plans, ensuring alignment with schedule, facility, and equipment requirements.
Interface with PMAs on project status for new development and sustainment activities.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in systems engineering or product management supporting complex technical programs.
Experience developing and documenting system requirements, specifications, and test plans.
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles: requirements management, system design, integration, and testing.
Familiarity with EW systems and O-level maintenance test systems is preferred.
Demonstrated analytical background with ability to solve technical challenges.
Experience monitoring and reporting project cost, schedule, and performance.
Experience developing or executing budgets is preferred.
Familiarity with MS Project and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication skills across formal and informal settings and with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, collaboratively, or lead small teams.
Additional Desired Technical Qualifications
Ability to interpret intelligence data and understand threat characteristics.
Experience with EW systems, system design, and trade studies.
Familiarity with RF laboratory simulators and test equipment.
Experience with C++, C#, or Java (Visual Studio, IntelliJ).
Basic knowledge of radar and communication systems.
MATLAB and signal processing experience.
Familiarity with EW suite operations and applications.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical field.
Acceptable substitutions:
6 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, or
4 additional years with a relevant associate degree.
Clearance and Citizenship
Active DoD Secret Clearance required at time of application.
Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
