LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a Camden, NJ-based organization to hire an Assistant Controller. This role focuses on manufacturing cost accounting, ERP system optimization, and inventory management, while working closely with operations to improve costing accuracy, streamline financial processes, and ensure timely completion of month-end close and audit activities.

Assistant Controller (Cost Accounting & ERP Focus)
Job Type: Full?time, Direct Hire
Work Location: Onsite (in person)
Compensation: $110,000–$115,000 base salary (DOE) + benefits (401(k) with match, health, dental, vision, life, PTO, tuition reimbursement)

Core Responsibilities
  • Own cost accounting routines: standard cost updates, BOM/routing validations, overhead allocations, and PPV analyses.
  • Lead monthly close tasks for COGS and inventory; reconcile sub?ledgers to the GL; perform margin and variance analysis.
  • Prepare GAAP?compliant financial statements and management reporting packs.
  • Optimize ERP workflows (AP/AR/GL, inventory, fixed assets); document processes and controls.
  • Strengthen internal controls; perform walkthroughs and remediation where needed.
  • Support budgeting/forecasting cycles; build models for production volumes, labor/overhead rates, and material usage.
  • Coordinate external audits; own audit schedules for inventory, revenue, and expenses.
  • Guide cross?functional teams on financial impacts of operational changes; recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in 1–3 annual physical inventory counts; support cycle count programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 4–5+ years of accounting experience with manufacturing cost accounting exposure.
  • Advanced Excel (index?match/XLOOKUP, pivot tables); ERP proficiency (implementation or optimization experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and internal controls.
  • Clear communicator with excellent attention to detail and deadline discipline.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience translating operational data into financial outcomes; continuous improvement orientation.
  • Leadership potential; ability to influence non?finance stakeholders.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to step, climb, sit for long periods, type, and lift as needed.
  • Work may occur in a cold, refrigerated plant environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
