HR Manager
Human Resources
LHH is seeking a hands on, highly experienced HR Manager for our client to lead core HR operations while actively contributing to long term organizational growth. This role is both strategic and tactical — ideal for someone who is comfortable managing a small team, directly executing essential HR processes, and collaborating with leadership across the organization.
You’ll manage critical functions such as payroll, benefits, employee relations, and in house recruiting, while upholding a culture built on accountability, service, and pro labor values.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Team Oversight
Oversee and develop the HR Generalist and HRIS Analyst
Lead by example in a highly hands on HR environment
Payroll
Initially process payroll directly; later oversee the function once staff is in place
Utilize Paylocity (experience preferred but not required)
Recruitment
Manage full cycle recruiting for all roles
Build and eventually oversee an internal recruitment structure
Conduct fair, consistent phone screenings aligned with organizational standards
Benefits Administration
Manage benefit programs including open enrollment, carrier coordination, STD/LTD, FMLA, and special enrollment changes
Liaise with brokers and benefit carriers
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations matters
Navigate union processes with respect for collective bargaining guidelines
HR Operations & Compliance
Support organizational compliance across payroll, labor law, benefits, and internal policy
Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 7+ years of progressive HR experience
Minimum 3+ years of HR leadership experience
Strong hands on payroll knowledge (Paylocity a plus)
Comprehensive benefits administration experience
Excellent employee relations and communication skills
Preferred
Experience in nonprofit or unionized environments
Ability to work hands on while also supervising and developing a small HR team
Pay/Benefits:
$38/hr - $46/hr depending on experience
Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan. Our program provides employees the flexibility to choose the type of coverage that meets their individual needs. Available paid leave may include Paid Sick Leave, where required by law; any other paid leave required by Federal, State, or local law; and Holiday pay upon meeting eligibility criteria
