The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in strengthening the accounting function during a period of transition. This leader will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the General Ledger Accounting team, advance process improvements, and serve as a key technical resource across the organization.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high‑trust environment, enjoys mentoring others, and brings a strong command of GAAP and technical accounting—particularly around fixed assets, leases, and investment valuation.
What You'll Lead
You’ll directly oversee a group of four core accounting team members.
You’ll be the go‑to person for problem solving, system improvements, and technical review, helping uplevel the team’s capabilities and ensuring accuracy across all financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting & Reporting
Lead GAAP‑compliant monthly close and financial reporting activities
Oversee areas including ASC 350/360, PPE, goodwill, and investment fair value
Support and enhance lease accounting processes (ASC 842)
Review variance analysis, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for accounting policy questions
Team Leadership
Mentor, guide, and develop a high‑performing accounting team
Provide structure, coaching, and clarity as responsibilities evolve
Foster a positive, accountable, and team‑oriented culture
Systems & Process Improvement
Drive workflow enhancements and automation opportunities
Oversee coordination with external auditors
Support the transition to new audit firms
Champion best practices for data integrity and system utilization
Systems in use:
FinancialForce (core accounting platform)
Salesforce

What They're Looking For
6+ years of progressive general accounting experience
Strong background in GAAP, technical accounting, and variance analysis
CPA strongly preferred
Experience overseeing accounting teams
Technical aptitude with systems, integrations, and process optimization
High degree of initiative, ownership, and follow‑through
Non‑profit experience is a plus, but not required
Pay Details: $125,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
