Job Title: Payroll Tax Lead
Location: Irving, TX (Open to hybrid work arrangement)
Pay Rate: $48/hr – $52/hr (Based on experience)
Job Summary:
A dynamic opportunity for a Payroll Tax Lead is available for an experienced professional with strong expertise in multi-jurisdictional payroll tax operations. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with payroll tax regulations, supporting mergers and acquisitions from a payroll perspective, and driving process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Operations & Compliance
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international payroll tax laws.
Handle tax withholdings, deposits, filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s, 941s, etc.).
Manage payroll tax requirements for expatriate and inpatriate employees.
Troubleshoot complex tax issues and reconcile discrepancies.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Support payroll system integrations and employee transitions during M&A activities.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate payroll onboarding.
Process Improvement & Leadership
Identify and implement payroll tax process enhancements.
Lead, mentor, and support payroll team members.
Manage third-party payroll tax consultants to optimize cost efficiency.
Audits & Reporting
Prepare and approve payroll tax filings and internal reports.
Lead payroll tax audits and provide necessary documentation and analysis.
Deliver analytics and special reports for stakeholders using payroll data.
Collaboration & Customer Service
Work closely with HR, Finance, and Legal to align payroll processes.
Address employee inquiries regarding tax deductions in a timely manner.
Maintain high-quality service standards across all payroll tax operations.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Experience
7+ years in payroll processing, tax compliance, and multi-state payroll.
Hands-on experience with ADP (Full Service & Smart Compliance) required.
M&A integration experience is a plus.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, local, and international payroll tax regulations.
Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP Vantage) and strong Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage sensitive data with a high level of confidentiality.
Pay Details: $48.00 to $52.00 per hour
