LHH is looking for a full-time Tax Specialist to join our client-growing company in Issaquah, WA. This position will be a 5-week contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Summary
The Tax Specialist is responsible for managing tax compliance, analyzing tax obligations, and ensuring accurate preparation and filing of tax returns. This role requires strong technical knowledge of tax laws, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex tax issues for individuals, businesses, or organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Preparation:
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and on time.
Review financial records and transactions for tax reporting purposes.
Ensure compliance with current tax regulations and guidelines.
Tax Planning and Analysis:
Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to minimize tax liabilities.
Analyze tax implications of financial decisions and business transactions.
Research changes in tax laws and assess their impact on clients or the organization.
Audit and Support:
Assist in responding to inquiries and audits from tax authorities.
Compile and organize documentation to support tax positions.
Provide reports and data analysis to management for decision-making.
Collaboration and Advisory:
Work closely with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Advise stakeholders on tax-related matters and offer strategic guidance.
Train or guide junior staff on tax processes and regulations, if applicable.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in tax preparation, planning, or compliance.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProConnect, or similar) and accounting systems.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
Attributes:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Work Environment
Office-based, with potential for hybrid or remote work options.
Overtime may be required during peak tax seasons.
Compensation: $30-$40/hour DOE
