Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist for a temporary assignment in Milwaukee, WI. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience with a respected law firm and make an immediate impact on their billing operations.
Position Summary:
The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and processing client invoices in accordance with firm and client guidelines. This temporary role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and accounting staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with legal billing software and a solid understanding of the legal billing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and process client invoices in compliance with firm and client billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure accurate and timely billing.
- Review and edit pre-bills, making necessary corrections and adjustments.
- Submit invoices through various electronic billing (e-billing) platforms and resolve any submission issues.
- Monitor and track the status of submitted invoices, following up on outstanding payments as needed.
- Respond to client and attorney inquiries regarding billing, payments, and account status.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to billing and accounts receivable.
- Generate billing reports and provide analysis to management as requested.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, client requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in legal billing, preferably in a law firm or legal department.
- Proficiency with legal billing software (e.g., Elite, Aderant, Bill4Time, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of legal billing guidelines, e-billing platforms, and client billing requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Hourly Pay: Average $23–$27 per hour, depending on experience
Pay Details: $23.00 to $27.00 per hour
