LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the accounting and finance team at a mission driven nonprofit school. This role is critical to maintaining the financial health and transparency of the organization and will be responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the full month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing insights and supporting documentation for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring proper coding, timely processing, and reconciliation of transactions.
Oversee payroll accounting, including coordination with payroll providers, reconciliation of payroll entries, and compliance with tax and benefit reporting.
Lead preparation of Form 990 and other nonprofit-specific filings, working closely with external auditors and tax professionals.
Support annual audits and grant reporting requirements, maintaining organized records and documentation.
Collaborate with school leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit or education sectors.
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting.
Experience with payroll systems and nonprofit tax filings (Form 990).
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; experience with QuickBooks Online
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
Compensation:
$70,000- $90,000
Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision
PTO is offered on an accrual basis
Paid Sick Leave where applicable by State law
