Controller

LHH is partnering with one of our larger non-profit clients on this temporary Controller position. This role is anticipated to last at least 6 months in duration and requires up to 3 days a week working onsite in their NYC HQ. Someone with deep technical accounting expertise, advanced general ledger proficiency, and strong systems capabilities across NetSuite, Coupa, and Concur are desired. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience managing audits, producing GAAP‑compliant financials, and preparing or reviewing IRS Form 990.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the month‑end and year‑end close process
Oversee all general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial analysis
Prepare internal and external financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Oversee annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
Assist with preparation of Form 990
Oversee procure‑to‑pay processes using Coupa, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and integration with the GL.
Manage employee expense reporting through Concur, including policy enforcement and GL mapping.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑track strongly preferred
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, nonprofit accounting preferred
Strong technical accounting skills with deep general ledger and financial reporting expertise
Hands‑on experience with NetSuite, Concur, and Coupa highly desired
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
Experience overseeing audits in a multi‑entity or grant‑funded environment
Pay Details: $65.00 to $80.00 per hour
