A privately held organization is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join its small, high-performing HR team. This is a hands-on, senior-level individual contributor position supporting day-to-day HR operations across multiple entities.
Hybrid, 3 days in office
The Senior HR Generalist will work closely with the Senior HR Manager to oversee payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, onboarding, and special HR initiatives. This role requires exceptional judgment, discretion, and comfort operating in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate employee records and HR data, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans; manage open enrollment and ongoing changes.
Oversee biweekly payroll across multiple entities and states; reconcile payroll reports and collaborate with accounting.
Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries; liaise with vendors, brokers, and administrators.
Oversee contractor classification and engagement processes.
Support employee relations matters, performance management, corrective actions, and offboarding.
Assist in managing the annual performance review cycle, including timelines, templates, and coordination with leadership.
Prepare HR communications, employee letters, and documentation.
Support leaves of absence, accommodations, workers’ compensation, and related claims.
Coordinate recruiting logistics, background checks, onboarding, and draft offer letters and employment agreements.
Develop and refine HR workflows, templates, and processes.
Support special HR initiatives and organizational projects.
Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure continuity across the HR workload.
Qualifications
5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience.
Proven experience with payroll processing.
Strong knowledge of HR compliance and benefits administration.
Experience supporting multi‑state and/or multi‑entity environments preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Able to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
HRIS/Payroll experience (e.g., Rippling, BambooHR, QuickBooks) preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
PHR or SHRM‑CP certification is a plus.
