Legal Proofreader

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Proofreader to support attorneys and legal staff by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of legal documents. This role is ideal for someone with a strong command of grammar, formatting, and legal style standards.

Must have experience proofreading 10ks/ 10qs documents that are 120 pages +

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread and edit legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and correspondence

  • Ensure compliance with court rules, firm style guides, and citation standards

  • Review documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting, and consistency

  • Verify cross-references, headings, tables of contents, and footnotes

  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience proofreading legal documents in a law firm or legal environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong knowledge of English grammar and usage

  • Familiarity with legal terminology and court formatting requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and document comparison tools

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
