Accounts Payable Supervisor (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Pico Rivera, CA
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Compensation: Up to $80,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to oversee daily AP operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This contract-to-hire role will lead a small AP team while ensuring accurate, timely processing of vendor invoices and payments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Accounts Payable team to ensure consistent performance and adherence to deadlines

  • Establish, document, and improve AP policies, procedures, and internal controls

  • Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring invoices are accurately recorded and paid on time

  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and purchase order matching when applicable

  • Approve weekly payment runs and determine appropriate payment methods and timing

  • Support cash planning by reviewing AP balances, forecasting upcoming payment needs, and coordinating with treasury or cash management teams

  • Maintain strong vendor relationships, resolve billing or payment issues, and ensure applicable discounts are captured

  • Prepare and analyze AP reports, including aging, cash requirement forecasts, and related metrics

  • Process wire transfers for international vendors and oversee special payments such as rent and import-related charges

  • Review credit applications, supplier agreements, and manage vendor setup and maintenance

  • Reconcile rebate, duty, and purchase order activity on a monthly basis

  • Monitor aged payables and recommend adjustments for long-outstanding items, obtaining approvals as required

  • Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and manage the AP inbox, distributing invoices to appropriate team members

  • Review vendor statements for priority suppliers and follow up on discrepancies

  • Partner with procurement teams to reconcile purchase order activity and resolve pricing or quantity variances

  • Ensure AP activities comply with company policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements

  • Provide documentation and support to internal and external auditors

  • Perform additional projects or duties as assigned by senior leadership


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of accounts payable experience, including team leadership or supervision

  • Strong working knowledge of automated accounts payable and ERP systems

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 per hour
