About the Role
LHH Recruitment's property management client is seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to support a busy lease-up at an affordable housing community. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in affordable housing programs and a strong understanding of compliance requirements, tenant file accuracy, and regulatory documentation.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring all applicant files meet program standards, supporting the leasing and compliance teams during this high-volume period.
Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and process all applicant documentation for lease-up, ensuring compliance with LIHTC and other affordable housing programs.
- Conduct income, asset, and household composition verification following program guidelines.
- Prepare complete, audit-ready tenant files for approval and move-in.
- Track application progress, follow up with applicants for missing documentation, and maintain accurate records in the property management system.
- Collaborate closely with leasing, property management, and compliance teams to ensure timely file completion and smooth lease-up workflow.
- Assist with waitlist management, applicant communication, and adherence to fair housing and regulatory standards.
- Support compliance reporting requirements as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service to applicants and residents during the leasing process.
Qualifications
- Must have affordable housing experience—LIHTC, Section 42, HUD, RD, or other rent-restricted housing programs.
- Prior experience working in an affordable housing compliance or file review capacity required.
- Experience supporting lease-ups strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Yardi, AppFolio, OneSite, or similar housing management systems (preferred but not required).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a large volume of files accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Pay Details: $27.00 to $30.00 per hour
