HR Generalist
Compensation: $30–$36 per hour DOE
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Contract Length: 3–6 month contract with potential for permanent hire
Work Environment: 100% onsite in Portland, OR
Position Overview
The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting the full employee lifecycle while ensuring a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture. This role is ideal for a well-rounded HR professional with strong employee relations experience who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on HR environment.
You will partner closely with leaders and employees to support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits and compensation programs, workforce planning, DEI initiatives, and HR data reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, scheduling, and candidate coordination.
Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure timely hiring.
Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth and engaging experience.
Employee Relations
Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, questions, and conflict resolution.
Lead and document employee relations investigations, including intake, interviews, findings, and recommended actions.
Coach managers on performance and behavior-related issues, ensuring alignment with policies and employment law.
Performance Management
Support ongoing performance review cycles and coach managers on performance expectations.
Assist in developing performance improvement plans and follow-up processes.
Benefits
Administer employee benefits programs and support open enrollment processes.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, leave, and compensation.
Partner with payroll/benefits teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Workforce Planning & HR Operations
Maintain HRIS data integrity and assist with workforce reporting and metrics.
Support workforce planning activities, including headcount tracking and staffing forecasts.
Assist in policy implementation, compliance updates, and general HR administration.
DEI Initiatives
Participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization.
Support programs that build belonging, engagement, and equitable workplace practices.
HR Analytics
Prepare HR dashboards, reports, and insights to support data-driven decision making.
Track trends in turnover, performance, employee relations, and labor metrics.
Required Qualifications
Strong, demonstrated employee relations background, ideally including investigations.
3+ years of broad HR generalist experience preferred.
Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in fast-paced or multi-disciplinary environments.
Experience overseeing HR functions in a Non-Profit environment.
Exposure to DEI-focused programs or HR analytics.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred but not required). Furthering education or certifications is also a plus.
Pay Details: $30.00 to $36.00 per hour
