Title: Benefit Specialist
Location: Sacramento, California
Pay range: $30-40/hour

Position Summary
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting employees with benefit-related inquiries. This role plays a key part in maintaining a positive employee experience through effective communication and management of health, retirement, and wellness benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Administer health and welfare benefits, retirement plans (401(k)/403(b)), and wellness programs.
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, life event changes, and claims resolution.
Manage leave-of-absence processes including FMLA, ADA, and disability paperwork.
Ensure compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, and other applicable laws.
Coordinate annual open enrollment and benefits orientation for new hires.
Maintain accurate records and generate reports for billing, audits, and compliance testing.
Liaise with third-party vendors and plan administrators.
Support internal audits and government filings related to benefits programs.
Qualifications
3 years of experience in benefits administration, including medical and retirement plans
Bachelor’s degree a plus.
Strong knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations.
Experience with HRIS systems and electronic enrollment platforms.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
Preferred Skills
Experience interpreting and applying 403(b) or 401(k) plan documents.
Familiarity with compliance testing and benefits audits.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
