IT Systems Administrator

Location: Sacramento, CA (100% On‑Site)
Duration: Minimum 3‑month contract with strong potential for conversion
Employment Type: Contract

Pay: $45-55/hr

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well‑established financial institution to identify an experienced IT Systems Administrator for an immediate, on‑site engagement in Sacramento, CA. This role is critical to maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the organization’s internal IT environment while supporting key operational and infrastructure initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on systems administrator with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies, a strong sense of ownership, and the professionalism required to work in a regulated banking environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable IT professional who can step into a live production environment with minimal ramp‑up and make an immediate impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to system, performance, and security alerts; document actions taken and outcomes

  • Manage email queues and support requests, troubleshooting and resolving common system and user issues

  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software, including system configurations and updates

  • Administer and support Microsoft environments, including:

    • Microsoft 365

    • Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)

    • Exchange Online

    • Active Directory (hybrid on‑prem and cloud)

    • Single Sign‑On (SSO), Conditional Access, and AD Connect

  • Provision and manage user accounts and support third‑party system integrations

  • Maintain and configure security solutions in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements

  • Support network infrastructure, including SD‑WAN, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points

  • Ensure backup systems are functioning properly; perform disaster recovery testing and document results

  • Collaborate with IT leadership, including the CIO and ISO, to assist with reporting, data collection, security initiatives, and risk assessments


Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)

  • Strong, hands‑on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams

  • Proven experience supporting a hybrid Active Directory environment (on‑prem AD integrated with Azure AD)

  • Demonstrated background as a Systems Administrator or similar role (beyond service desk support)

  • Ability to independently support production systems in a live environment with minimal supervision

  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a corporate, regulated setting

  • Availability and willingness to work 100% on‑site in Sacramento, CA


Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Networking experience or foundational knowledge (firewalls, switches, wireless, SD‑WAN)

  • PowerShell scripting or automation experience

  • Exposure to or interest in Microsoft Intune and endpoint management


Experience Profile

  • 5+ years of relevant IT experience

  • Backgrounds may include Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Administrator, or similar roles


Professional Expectations

  • High level of dependability and reliability

  • Strong follow‑through and ability to meet deadlines

  • Professional presence appropriate for a banking environment

  • Comfortable collaborating closely with IT leadership on‑site
