Payroll Clerk (8-Month Contract, Hybrid – Seattle, WA)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support day-to-day payroll operations for an organization based in Seattle. This hybrid, 8-month contract role will assist with payroll processing, data entry, timesheet reviews, and employee inquiries. The ideal candidate is highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with confidential employee information.

Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Compensation
$26–$34 per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Assist with bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll processing
Review and verify employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
Enter payroll data including hours worked, PTO, deductions, and adjustments
Support payroll audits by maintaining accurate payroll records and documentation
Respond to basic employee payroll questions and escalate issues as needed
Assist with new hire setup and employee changes in the payroll system
Ensure payroll data aligns with company policies and compliance requirements
Support payroll tax filings and reporting as directed
Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting or finance a plus
1–3 years of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience
Familiarity with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar preferred)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets
Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting multi-state payroll
Prior contract or temporary accounting experience
Exposure to payroll compliance or wage and hour regulations
