Senior AI/ML Engineer (Remote)
Location: Must reside in WA, OR, ID, OH, SC, TX, or FL
Compensation: $150K–$170K depending on location

A well-established organization in the insurance and analytics space is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to join their remote team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Azure and Databricks, and a passion for building scalable AI/ML solutions that drive business impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical workshops to gather requirements and design architecture for analytics and AI/ML initiatives using Azure and Databricks.

  • Architect and manage Databricks environments across development, testing, and production.

  • Define and implement Lakehouse architecture and governance best practices.

  • Deploy Databricks SQL, Delta Live Tables, and MLflow for scalable experimentation.

  • Build and maintain MLOps workflows for model deployment and monitoring.

  • Conduct code reviews and ensure quality across AI/ML and smart analytics solutions.

  • Design and develop robust data pipelines and cloud services for monitoring and reporting.

  • Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data processing and validation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability and scalability.

  • Scale data science models to handle large volumes of data and build deployment pipelines.

  • Implement observability and logging for AI/ML performance.

  • Conduct architecture reviews and performance tuning.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in ETL pipeline development and SQL Server.

  • 3+ years of enterprise experience with Azure and Databricks AI/ML services.

  • Proven experience in applying ML algorithms and transforming prototypes into production-ready models.

  • 4+ years of experience with CI/CD workflows for ML models.

  • Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.

  • Strong background in batch and streaming data pipelines, including Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Azure ML, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, Power BI, Snowflake, and Azure OpenAI.

  • Agile methodology experience (Scrum preferred).

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
