Senior AI/ML Engineer (Remote)
Location: Must reside in WA, OR, ID, OH, SC, TX, or FL
Compensation: $150K–$170K depending on location
A well-established organization in the insurance and analytics space is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to join their remote team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Azure and Databricks, and a passion for building scalable AI/ML solutions that drive business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical workshops to gather requirements and design architecture for analytics and AI/ML initiatives using Azure and Databricks.
Architect and manage Databricks environments across development, testing, and production.
Define and implement Lakehouse architecture and governance best practices.
Deploy Databricks SQL, Delta Live Tables, and MLflow for scalable experimentation.
Build and maintain MLOps workflows for model deployment and monitoring.
Conduct code reviews and ensure quality across AI/ML and smart analytics solutions.
Design and develop robust data pipelines and cloud services for monitoring and reporting.
Optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data processing and validation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability and scalability.
Scale data science models to handle large volumes of data and build deployment pipelines.
Implement observability and logging for AI/ML performance.
Conduct architecture reviews and performance tuning.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML, or related field (Master’s preferred).
5+ years of experience in ETL pipeline development and SQL Server.
3+ years of enterprise experience with Azure and Databricks AI/ML services.
Proven experience in applying ML algorithms and transforming prototypes into production-ready models.
4+ years of experience with CI/CD workflows for ML models.
Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.
Strong background in batch and streaming data pipelines, including Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.
Familiarity with tools such as Azure ML, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, Power BI, Snowflake, and Azure OpenAI.
Agile methodology experience (Scrum preferred).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
