Manufacturing (Cost) Accountant – Tampa, FL

Are you a detail?driven accounting professional who loves digging into manufacturing data, uncovering cost insights, and partnering closely with operations? Our client, a growing manufacturing organization in Tampa, is seeking a Manufacturing (Cost) Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced cost accountants and new graduates who have completed cost?focused accounting internships and are eager to grow their careers.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate product costing, improving financial visibility, and supporting production, supply chain, and engineering teams with actionable insights.
What You’ll Do
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
- Analyze manufacturing cost variances (material usage, labor efficiency, scrap, overhead absorption).
- Review and reconcile Work?In?Process (WIP) and inventory accounts.
- Prepare monthly cost roll?ups and perform BOM and routing audits.
- Monitor production orders for accuracy, completeness, and cost performance.
Inventory Control & Reporting
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory reconciliations.
- Support cycle counts and full physical inventory activities.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in collaboration with operations.
- Validate inventory valuation across locations (if applicable).
Financial Reporting & Planning
- Prepare cost?related financial reports for management.
- Analyze and report on product and sales margins.
- Support month?end close including journal entries, accruals, and cost allocations.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing operations.
- Review manufacturing KPIs and recommend improvement actions.
Operational Support
- Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain to improve cost accuracy and transparency.
- Provide cost estimates for new products, engineering changes, and special projects.
- Recommend process improvements to reduce cost, waste, and inefficiencies.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
Experience
- 2–5+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing preferred.
- New grads with cost accounting internships will be considered!
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, Infor, etc.
- Strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing workflows.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem?solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v?lookups, formulas).
- Ability to clearly communicate financial data to non?financial teams.
- Highly organized, detail?oriented, and thorough.
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
Pay Details: $58,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
